15 great spots for fun

There’s no time like October for pumpkin pickin’ and harvest happenins’.  pumpkin twinsFrom corn mazes and pumpkin patches to hayrides and petting zoos, we’ve got the goods on 15 great spots to have some good old fashioned farm fun. All are within an hour’s drive of greater Seattle; just make sure you call ahead as some farms have limited weekday activity and some require reservations.  Then bundle up the littles in dirt-friendly duds and don’t forget a camera. After all, what kind of parent are you if you don’t have the requisite kiddo-with-pumpkin pic for the scrapbook?

Remlinger Farms
Catch a ride on the steam train, check out the 4H barnyard, explore the haymaze and toddler play area and, of course, pick some pumpkins on this self-guided tour. (Reservations required.)

32610 NE 32nd St., Carnation, Thursdays 10 a.m. (gates close two hours after last reservation), Fridays 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (gates close at 3 p.m.).

Caripinto Brothers Farm
Let the good times roll with tractor-pulled hayrides, two fantastic corn mazes and acres and acres of pumpkins to choose from. (Look for our fave variety: the We-be-Little pumpkins!)

1148 Central Ave. N., Kent,  Mon- Fri. 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Weekends 8 a.m to 6 p.m.

Fall City Farms
Meet goats Wally, Bing, Harry and Poppy, scour the pumpkin patch and navigate the haymaze.  Don’t forget to bring a bag to fill with fresh, u-pick veggies.

Mosby Farm Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch
Add up a fantastic corn maze, a “Gi-normous” pumpkin patch, and tractor-pulled hayrides, and the result is a super fun day. Added attraction: an on-site photographer who will snap your perfect pumpkin photo.

South 47 Farm
Farm animals, wagon rides and a pumpkin patch with so many varieties, you won’t know where to begin. Want extra fun? Check out Friday and Saturday night Flashlight Maze nights.

Two Brothers Pumpkin Patch at Gamehaven Greenery
This family-owned pumpkin patch has been open for 25 years and includes a petting zoo, cornstalks, hay maze and both u-pick and pre-picked pumpkins.

Bob’s Corn and Pumpkin Farm
It’s not just about the pumpkins at this farm, which has a Trike Track (kids ride John Deere tricycles!), playground, cowtrain and pony rides. There’s also an onsite photographer.

Stocker Farms
In addition to a 10-acre pumpkin patch, this farm features a weekend Pumpkin Festival Field with hayrides, pumpkin launching, troutfishing, food and crafts booths.

10622 Airport Way, Snohomish. Market open daily; Festival Field open on weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

V2 Farm
A pirate-themed corn maze is the jewel to this farm experience, which also has a kiddie corn maze, pumpkin patch and interactive theater.
Details:
20613 S.E. 436th St., Enumclaw, Daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Theater times are nightly.

Craven Farm
With a 20-acre pumpkin patch, 15-acre corn maze, hayrides, storytelling, scarecrow making, a petting zoo and a donut and espresso bar, this farm covers all the bases.
Details:
13817 Short School Road, Snohomish. Open daily from 9:30 a.m. till dark.

Fairbank Pumpkin Farm
This weekend-only pumpkin patch has a side attraction: kids get to feed pumpkin to the resident pigs.

The Farm at Swan’s Trail
Check out the 12-acre corn maze (in the shape of Washington State), plus enjoy a hay jump, pig show, pumpkin patch, wagon rides, story trails and petting farm.

Biringer Farm
There’s loads to do at this pumpkin patch: slides, a goat climb, hay barn, Deadwood Ranch Theatre, trolley ride, pony rides, face paint and a “Boo Barn”.

4625 40th Place N.E., Everett. Open daily, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Carleton Farm Produce
Explore the twists and turns of the Time Machine corn maze, check out the farm animals and slip down the tube slide. Oh, and don’t forget to pick some pumpkins.

Trinity Tree Farm
Known for its U-cut tree farm, Trinity has expanded this year with a pumpkin patch, train rides, tractor-pulled hayrides and bounce houses.
