Seattle - Everywhere 206-624-7474
When Mary Grace looks through the lens of her camera, she doesn’t see what a person is wearing, or whether they are posing a certain way. What she is seeking is the real person within. One glimpse of her vast portfolio of portraits – from kids, to adults to whole families – and you’ll see real people, too.
Starting out as a photojournalist, Long was always shooting for Real. Her explorations took her to India where she photographed a series of Tibetan Nuns and later to Indonesia, where she compiled a series of portraits -weather faces with light-filled eyes. Her photography business has been based in Seattle since 1991. Long’s trademark is her humanistic style. She says she’s less interested in a person’s packaging (age, gender); instead, she strives to capture their spirit. Because of this, she’s comfortable photographing people of all ages – from newborns to centenarians and everyone in between.
When making portraits of children, she knows how to engage them and make the session a fun, unintimidating experience. This helps bring out their real personalities, which in turn results in rich, soulful images.on
