Here Comes the…Flower Girl!

Wedding season is approaching!  But what should your little darling wear to the big event and the other get-togethers leading up to the big day? Since their current uniform of jeans and Crocs probably won’t cut it, it’s time to go shopping. Whether they’ve been invited to be part of a wedding party or they are a guest in need a special outfit, check out these shops to find just the right thing!

Girly wedding guests and flower girls will find the perfect dress right here from brands like Tea Collection, Florence Eisman, Lily Pulitzer, Suzanne Lively, Isabel Garreton, Frances Johnston and more. Some items may be special ordered. Boys will be looking sharp this summer with the Kite Strings blue and white seersucker suit, dressy clothes from Petit Bateau and a new line of hipster dress shirts (designed by dads in CA) called 191 Unlimited. The boutique also carries infant dress shoes, socks, tights, hair bows, and has a hair salon in back so little one can get a trim or a fancy up-do for the big day!
Check out Lamb’s Ears for a 5-piece boy’s tux under $80. They have some samples to try on and can special order for you, typically in black, white, or ivory. You’ll also find a selection of dress shirts, slacks and vests and a line of boy’s Eton suits in linen or silk (a set including shorts, shirt and jacket with Peter Pan collar). For girls, Lamb’s Ears carries special occasion items in-store as well as special order dresses from brands such as Isabel Garreton, US Angels, Katie & Co, Malley & Co, and Kids Dream. Most special occasion items are available in sizes 12 mos to 12 yrs. PS: Lamb’s Ears just recently moved to their new Downtown Bellevue location (near Pogacha).
For gasp-worthy flower girl outfits, forgo a traditional dress for the latest trend…a wedding tutu. Brides are flocking to Bee Bops & Lollipops for custom-designed, giant wedding tutus for flower-girls of all ages. Big girls (approx: 5-10 year olds) get to wear an enormously poufy, floor-length tutu and they typically outfit smaller flower girls (approx: 2 & 3 year olds) in a slightly shorter, but still very poufy, version. The satin waistbands, bows, and optional streamers are customized to match the wedding party.  Baby tutus are also available for the littlest of special wedding guests. Hip “tie t-shirts” for boys, found in their shop, make a unique statement for a casual wedding.
Local Jenn Truong launched her collection of special occasion dresses earlier this year, shortly after trying to find just the right dresses for the pint-sized flower girls in her own wedding last summer. An attorney by day, she found an outlet for her creative side by designing flower girl dresses which are available online and can also be ordered at Ravenna’s Calla Bridal or Bellevue’s Moms, Maids, and More. She is also happy to meet with local moms and brides in person. Online she offers sizes 3T-8 but can work with you if smaller or larger sizes are needed. The dresses can be worn for weddings or any special occasion.
Consignment Stores:
Don’t forget to scour the local consignment stores for a special outfit. Since, they’re usually only worn once or twice, you can often find a near-perfect outfit, suit, tux, dress, or shoes for a steal!
