just discovered SmackTalk. It's like crack for preschoolers. I don't know why they love it, but every family I've told about it, the kids get hooked. Essentially, it is a really cute guinea pig that repeats everything your kid says in a helium-induced voice. The kids all start off timidly with 'hello', 'what's your name' etc, then rapidly progress to belching, farting and singing silly made-up songs. Long plane or car ride? Perfect! (as long as you have headphones)

Full Tilt is a huge favorite! Ice cream & sorbet, pinball & arcade games and--perhaps most importantly--beer for the grownups. There are several locations, all awesome.

I just got back from Vancouver last Tuesday. Granville Island Kids Market Adventure zone was great for my 5 year old and for my 18 month. The Granville Public Market rocked with great looking and tasting food.

The Klahowya Village in Stanley Park, which is a recent addition and will only be available seasonally, was awesome. We got to see 3 time world champ Hoop Dance Alex Wells and his daughters perform and were a part of a ceremony calling the Raven's spirit. The food was good too, better than most concession stands in CA. Buffalo Chili and Bannock rocked. Also in Stanley Park is the Aquarium, which is very nice and has a 4D theater (SpongeBob was playing when we were there). The Sea Otters look like they are having a great time and my son loved them and the beluga whales too.

Japadog is a must visit and with 4locations pretty easy to fit in.

Went to the Vanier Space Centre, which is good for elementary school and older kids - Warning - No food/eateries near by so don't go there hungry.

Robson is great the further you get from downtown - lots of good, good food and a very nice Safeway.

Next time I hope we will get to go the Greater Vancouver Zoo.

Another idea for a boys birthday party is FOX Sports Grill - downtown. I handle the Sales and Marketing and we have fun rooms for kids to celebrate in. Our private rooms have plasma tv's for playing a photo DVD of the child's past year as well as playing a fun movie or sports game during the party. We also offer complimentary use of our two Wii systems if the kids need to burn off some energy. Children's menus are available and we can even create your birthday cake on site, too. We also provide a balloon for each child! Lastly. parents will have fun, too!

My kids love this super simple chicken parmesan recipe. My niece (age 7) didn't like chicken until she tried it and now my brother- and sister-in-law make it all the time also. Find it here: http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/ragu-no-frying-chicken-parmesan/Detail.aspx I use organic marinara sauce from Trader Joes. I also cook a pound of pasta and heat up another jar of sauce on the side to go with this. We usually use about 1.25 or 1.5 lbs of boneless skinless chicken thighs instead of breasts. So good and EASY!
