AcroSports, a physical performance and circus arts school
For kids who need a slightly bigger challenge than the playground provides, as well as for little ones who could use some encouragement in developing confidence in their physical abilities, San Francisco’s AcroSports provides a wide range of classes for an even wider range of ages. Since its inception in 1993, AcroSports, a non-profit organization, has grown to serve over 9,000 children and adults each year in its facility just across from Kezar stadium. Toddlers and preschoolers can start out in a Tiny Tots class with parents helping them along, and move up to a Tootsie Rollers class, where coaches and peers do the encouraging. Watching your wee one somersault down a padded ramp or bounce on a trampoline for the first time is quite a thrill—for you as well as them. (If you’re feeling envious, check out the class offerings for adults.) There are also classes that explore rhythm and dance for kids in the 4-5 year-old age range, and, as they get a bit older, they can take classes in circus arts, breakdancing, capoeira, even parkour (finally, a chance to channel “bouncing off the walls”—literally!)
All of AcroSports Kids classes include a no-risk trial, and from now through the end of March, if you mention that you saw AcroSports in Red Tricycle, you’ll receive a free AcroSports t-shirt. The spring session starts March 15, so sign up to get into the action.
